Monday thoughts: it’s time to re-evaluate.

Unless there is a diagnosed condition which requires you follow strict dietary patterns, a diet followed for weight loss purposes getting in the way of your social life indicates it is time to reconsider your choice.

If you have to skip out on brunch with the girls because you’re fasting, if you can’t enjoy a cupcake at a party because you’re on keto, if you can’t enjoy a drink on a Friday night because you’ll lose your calorie streak on myfitnesspal, if you’re missing out on connecting with loved ones, it’s time to pause.

Is it really worth it? How long can you keep this up? How is it impacting your mental health and your joy? Do the food rules you’re attempting to follow cause you to feel tense around food?

The inability to feel relaxed in the presence of food is associated with a disordered eating mentality.

Is physical health worth it if mental health is compromised?

May we look back on our lives and remember human connection…grandma’s cooking, spontaneous starbucks visits with friends, hot chocolate on a chilly day, sour patch candy at the movies, and pizza nights full of laughter, friendship, and memories
